Program Coordinator, Chinese American Mental Health Outreach Program in New Jersey (CAMHOP-NJ)

Maggie Luo, MA, is currently Program Coordinator of Chinese American Mental Health Outreach Program in New Jersey (CAMHOP-NJ), a program of NAMI New Jersey. Maggie has extensive experience in working with Chinese immigrant families who are struggling with mental illness and helping them navigate mental health system through phone support and self-help support group meetings. For the past six years, Maggie has been facilitating mental health support group meetings in New Jersey for Chinese immigrant families and has also helped community members to be trained as support group facilitators.

Maggie currently serves on the NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Asian American Pacific Islander Leaders Group, and has been a mental health cultural competency trainer as well for various organizations in NJ. She is also a trained mental health interpreter. Before she entered the mental health field, Maggie worked as a professional translator/interpreter with Asian organizations in the fields of medicine, international relations and academic disciplines, where she acquired extensive experience and knowledge on Asian cultural issues. Maggie graduated with a master's degree in communications from the School of Communication, Information and Library Science at Rutgers University.
