Brought to you by the Depression Is Real Coalition, The Down & Up Show is dedicated to the reality of depression. Each week our hosts will talk with some of the world's top experts on depression, as well as people who have been impacted by this illness. The reality of depression is that it is a debilitating and potentially deadly medical condition that affects more than 15 million Americans every year. The other reality of depression is that there is hope. Dr. Charles GrossCharles Gross holds an MA from the Subprogram in Clinical Psychology of the City University of New York and works as a psychiatric and public health researcher at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He has worked as a psychotherapist at the City College of New York, where he has also been part of a SAMHSA Campus Suicide Prevention Grant, focusing on outreach and destigmatization of mental health issues on a large and diverse urban campus. Beyond continuing to train as a clinician, his recent interests include media psychology, specifically the interface between individual psychology and mass media and representations of psychopathology in art and entertainment. Before entering the field of psychology, Mr. Gross worked as a photographer, largely in the music world, and maintains an interest in popular and youth culture. |
